This LGBTQ NFT artwork is about Alain Sorel, a Franco-Swiss right-wing commentator who was sentenced to two months in prison for defaming an LGBTQ female journalist and calling her a “fat lesbian” in a Facebook video.
Alain Bonnet, known as Alain Soral (born 2 October 1958), is a filmmaker and actor who has a political association (Equality and Reconciliation) founded by him and a publishing company that has published controversial articles.
According to the Swiss Public Broadcasting (RTC), Soral addressed Catherine Macherel, a journalist for 24 Heures and the Swiss newspapers Tribune de Geneve, who works as a “queer activist”.
The LGBTQ community applauds the court’s decision and sees it as an important moment for the judiciary to protect the rights of LGBTQ people and prevent discrimination against them.
“Alan Sorrel’s conviction is a strong signal that homophobic hatred cannot be tolerated in our society. ” Murial Waeger, of the lesbian activist group, said in a statement.
The Lausanne court sentenced Soral to pay thousands of Swiss francs in addition to 60 days in prison.
